Summary

Infinity has supported an asset integrity engineering consultancy and its supermajor end client across six years and four separate contracts, delivering pipeline and integrity engineering across a West African production portfolio of eleven pipelines.

Overview

The end client operates an extensive pipeline network supporting production across the region, much of it mature. Keeping that network available, safe and compliant is a continuous engineering effort rather than a project. Infinity has supported that effort since 2020 through successive contracts, covering deposition and integrity assessment, internal corrosion direct assessment, and system-wide engineering across eleven separate pipelines in the current scope. The relationship has run continuously across four contracts and remains active.

Objective

  • Assess integrity threats across a mature pipeline network
  • Support internal corrosion direct assessment across the system
  • Provide system-wide engineering assessment across the pipeline portfolio
  • Sustain continuous engineering support across successive contract periods

Key findings

  • Mature networks require integrity threats to be assessed as a system rather than line by line
  • Deposition and corrosion behaviour were closely linked to operating conditions and could not be assessed in isolation
  • Continuity across contracts allowed engineering knowledge of the network to compound rather than reset
  • System-wide assessment identified interactions between lines that individual assessments had not exposed
  • Sustained support proved more effective than periodic study work for a network under continuous operation

Differentiator

Six years of continuous engineering support to the same network. Infinity hold accumulated knowledge of these pipelines that cannot be reproduced by a contractor starting from a data room, and that continuity is why the relationship has been renewed four times.

Outcome

The client has maintained a consistent engineering position across a mature West African pipeline network through four successive contracts. The engagement remains active and is one of Infinity’s longest-running international relationships.
