Overview

Infinity were instructed to carry out the assessment of diesel driven equipment to establish the feasibility of utilising HVO to decarbonise our client’s assets.

Scope of Work

Infinity were engaged to carry our a study to review all equipment currently using diesel on the our client’s facility to determine the compatibility with Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and possible diesel-HVO mixtures.

The scope include the definition of logistics requirements for HVO supply, ensuring sustainability and traceability of the feedstock.

Also included was the performance testing to validate that equipment meets safety and operational standards with HVO.

Findings

HVO was confirmed to meet relevant fuel specifications (EN 15940 and Fuel Quality Directive 2009/30/EC) and is a viable replacement for diesel, offering better storage life and resistance to contamination.

Challenges for this study included sustainability of the HVO supply chain, potential for increased costs, and ensuring all diesel-utilising equipment is compatible with HVO.

A phased testing plan was recommended to ensure equipment performance is not compromised with HVO usage.
