Study
Infinity were instructed on a large-scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in the Dutch North Sea, which plans to store 120-150 million tonnes of CO₂.
Infinity were selected to support the Feasibility, Concept Selection and pre-FEED for this CCS project. The feasibility study was to carry out the facilities engineering associated with a concept to inject between 5 and 8 million tonnes of CO2 annually into the depleted gas fields around three project site areas. In addition to the engineering work performed, Infinity were engaged to act as the Client Owners Engineer to manage several parallel studies performed by third-party engineering contractors.
The outcome of the study was the selection of a pipeline transportation solution which was preferred to the shipping via direct injection into storage solution. It was found that the pipeline option was feasible and prove the viability of an integrated energy hub using the existing infrastructure to facilitate the CO2 storage.
